Yes — completely free. There are no platform fees, service charges or commissions for homeowners. You only pay for the work itself, at the price quoted by the contractor. No hidden extras.
We charge contractors an 8% commission on each successfully completed and approved job. This is deducted automatically from the payment released from escrow. Contractors pay nothing to join, nothing monthly and nothing to quote on jobs.
All payments are held in secure escrow until you — the homeowner — approve the completed work. The contractor cannot access the funds until you release them. If you're not satisfied, raise a dispute before releasing payment and our resolution team will investigate.
Don't release payment. Raise a dispute through the app and our resolution team will review evidence from both sides and make a fair decision — usually within 5 working days. We also offer a Money Back Guarantee where the contractor has failed to deliver the agreed work.
You can report a contractor directly through the app or by emailing support@getbluehammer.com. We take all reports seriously. Contractors who are found to have behaved improperly are suspended immediately pending investigation, and removed from the platform where warranted.

Blue Hammer is currently focused exclusively on Northern Ireland. Homeowners must be based in NI, and contractors must be willing and able to work in NI. We may expand to the Republic of Ireland and the rest of the UK in future — but Northern Ireland is our home and our focus right now.
Blue Hammer Home Services Limited is ICO registered and fully UK GDPR compliant. We collect only the data necessary to operate the platform, never sell your data to third parties, and handle everything in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The primary Blue Hammer experience is through our iOS and Android apps. However, you'll also be able to access core features — including browsing services, submitting requests and managing bookings — through our mobile-friendly web platform at getbluehammer.com.
